The hollow portion of the worm gear's shaft failed and the chute is inoperative. Poor design caused the faulure. There is no absorbing stop limit when rotating the chute in either direction. The worm gear simply reaches the end of the cogs on the horrizontal chute gear, and abruptly stops with no place to go. The stopping damages both the worm gear and the chute gear at the rotations left and right limits. The strain on the hollow shaft of the worm gear eventually fails. I must assume there is a modification to provide a cushioned stop for the chute rotation to eliminate the costly replacement of the worm gear every year or two. Is anybody aware of the modification?
