JD 1020
I have "inherited" a JD 1020 with a property I have recently purchased. The brake pedals both travel to their full extent when first pushed and there is no braking, but they can both be "pumped up" to be firm and fully functional. If they are not operated for a short time, they will once again "bottom" until pumped up again.
I have checked the fluid level which is full, and attempted to "bleed" the brakes, but little or no air was expelled.
Any suggestions? Also, what is the brake fluid ? It seems to be some sort of oil rather than the more conventional hydraulic brake fluid as used in cars.

The brake reservoir is filled by trans pump with hyd oil via a small passageway in trans case. You might try adjusting the pedals by moving the 2 bolts(parts key 14) on the brake valve housing. Will brakes operate properly with both pedals locked together?
