the voltmeter test to the back of the alt and bat posts tells you nothing except the wire is intact!
with tractor off, put a test lamp inline with alt and battery.. if it lights up, then yeah.. alt needs help.
if no, then pull + cable and put test lamp inline with bat cable and bat... lamp should light up if there is a laod. if yes, start pulling circuits one at a time till lamp goes out. when it does, last circuit pulled is the load.
