I'm looking at a small engine to put in a machine that I'm building. I was looking at the Vanguard 37 hp EFI. On the options page it says that Direct Throttle Control is an option. How would that differ from a regular throttle body that comes on the motor. I can't seem to get a definitive answer.

The only thing I can think of is that the "indirect" control may have some sort of governor to regulate throttle, so the user doesn't actually control it, sort of like on a generator

I believe Direct throttle control means it will accept a mechanical linkage to control the throttle. Many EFI engines have a electronic throttle that is simply a electronic rheostat

That's what I was kinda hoping that it was an electronic throttle control. Because the machine that it's going on will be controlled through a joystick. And the throttle would have to be controlled with an actuator if it were manual.
