The attached picture shows a 3/4'' threaded hole where something is missing on my 83' 1520 ford diesel tractor under the throttle pedal. Anyone know what's suppose to be there? A plug? breather port??

Mount for a step?

In my experience a step mount would be into a blind hole, that looks like it goes all the way into the case.

G'day I would say it's a level plug for the trans.
You might want to check the other loader frame bolts in the first pic looks like they might be a bit loose.

I'd have to agree with banjodunn, looks like a fill hole for the trans.

Looks from the pics like this is the bell housing area, it would be a dry area, no liquids

Na, the bell housing is further left of that hole, you can see the bolts to the engine.

Strange - entering the model number AH4137 (plate in picture) gives no results in new holand parts look up. I like a mystery and per the parts diagram listed above the hole goes into the clutch case. Maybe an inspection hole? Might be worth a call to a NH dealer.

However you can also check with the folks on this forum Antique Tractors - Yesterday's Tractors : Parts and Online Community under Ford. They were a great help on my 503 rake.

Hope this helps
