I am replacing the engine on my L3130, and before I install the engine I was told to also replace the HST transmission front seal, the seal that is on the shaft entering the engine. Yeah, I guess I could have worded that better. So, after loosening the 5 or 6 bolts on the "seal block", oil started dripping, not unexpectedly, and I re tightened the block. How to keep the oil from draining out? I am considering rotating the rear end of the tractor backward so the transmission is up much higher in the front. Is this a good idea?
Also, the shaft that powers the front axle appears to have a seal that I might be able to change out. The shaft is at the bottom of the front end of the transmission, facing forward, and has a clip around the shaft and I suspect there is a seal behind. Anyone have any experience?
Thanx.
