Hi all, new to the forum with first post.
I have a John Deere 330 with a yanmar 3TN66UJ engine that I am currently in the process of trying to rebuild(not by choice). The guy I had helping and doing a lot of the technical work is getting a divorce and now I have a 90% finished engine(silver lining). However I had to get the injection pump rebuilt and neither one of us knows how many shims there were when it was initially taken off quite some time ago. So basically I'm stuck the component tech manual simply says "make sure to notate how many shims" and we obviously did not. He is long gone and I'm left to do this alone with very limited knowledge on the subject.
My question now is how the heck do I Install this pump correctly without knowing how many shims were used in the first place? Is there a timing location I have to match up with? Help!!!
Thanks everyone.
Nick
