9 looks like a clamp for lifting sheet metal you hooked the eye on to crane and placed the V opening over edge pf plate and then as you lift the cam tightens on plate never trust them! Especially old one's!

He has a carbon arc welder there. Strange looking thing, like a reflective parabolic heater with wire coil in back. Runs on 110v, has two carbon rod holders either side. He showed me years ago how to use it bringing carbon rods together, then slowly apart you get an arc at gap where you can weld.

9 is a cable, or wire puller.

I'd suspect #1 is a tool to bend or adjust flanged material such as the lid or lip of a metal box, again perhaps the flanges of vehicle fenders.

Thanks so much again. Other odd ones I'll post when I can. I just remembered a trunk full of stuff he had when he was in WWI. I'm 65...but way before my time.
