Tractor
Deutz Allis / 7085
My father recently purchased an 89' Duetz-Allis 7085 4WD with Cab. When using under a heavy load, the tractor is over-heating. He has had the temperature gauge checked, replaced the air filter and power washed the engine with no luck in correcting the problem. This model is air cooled.

Anyone have any ideas on what else to try?

He did remove any and all heat shields and air ducting and wash out the cooling fins, didn't he? Does it have an oil cooler that might be plugged? If the fins aren't plugged it might have oil coked up inside of it from lack of maintenance. Regular oil changes with the specified oil are a must in an air cooled engine. Most air cooled engines of higher horsepower have oil coolers to help them along. If all cooling fins and coolers, etc. are clean it might be overfueling for some reason.

maybe worth a call to a dealer, some of the air cooled diesels had two fan pulleys one for warm weather one for cold, more flow and less respectivley to keep engine in operating range at the time of year.
