I have a customer at our shop that has an old Fram All tractor. It needs a new carb. The mounting ear has been broke before, repaired and now is breaking again. Also the lever on the choke shaft is broke. It too has been repaired a few times too.

I'm not sure what model tractor it is. It is a 4 cylinder. The operator seat is about 6' of the ground. The tractor is very narrow but the wheel stance is very wide both front and rear. Wheels are very narow, tall in the rear small in front. Looks like the front axle is easily adjustable. The hydrualics are between the engine and operator but above the transmission.

Any ideas on where to get parts? Specifically a carb.?

Many thanks?

You'll really need the model and SN for that IH tractor. Shape and size won't arrow it down too much.

If you do get that info, try ytmag.com.. they have a decent antique parts section, and the IH sub has a bunch of decent people. The've helped me with my cub numerous times.

Might also try denny's carb shop.. I've seen adds in many antique tractor mags. Also.. Antique restoration specialists magazine... lotsa parts including carbs listed.

If you can get the model/sn I'll look in my catalogs at home and see what I can come up with.

Once you determine the serial number, you might also contact a Tisco Parts dealer. They provide tractor parts for any number of different brands of all ages.
Go to this link to find a dealer of Tisco Parts:

I don't know if they do tractor carbs, but I've always used Carburetor Exchange on Colley Ave, in Norfolk, VA for carb work. Few shops have a flow bench for adjusting carbs. They do.

If you can find a serial number and model on the tractor let me now and i'll see what I can find out for you. Also, there are identification numbers stamped into the carbuerator itself.

Oops!

I thought you could tell what model it was by description, older tractors anyway. I'll go back to the guys house and remove the carb and look for carb #s and manufacture's #s. Any idea about where the numbers are?

Many thanks.

well.. yeah.. on some tractors you can. For instance if you said it was a little orange tractor with the engine in the rear.. that's pretty decisevly an A/C 'G'. The farmalls had so many similar model.. Saying red, and trike, and so big could be lots of different things.

Either get the carb number.. or the tractor model/serial number. Either should be easy to find.

Chris

I took the carb off. I could not find any numbers. The only thing I found is "Zenith Made in USA". I did find a tag on the bell housing, all it had was "11808 J". I have had no luck finding anything exact. I did find a Zenith carb on-line but not sure if its right. I did go to my local auto parts place and looked up carb kits for FarmAlls. They list 3 carb kits for models with a Zenith carb, they didn't stock any of the kits so I couldn't match it. Aslo someone mentioned (local) that its probably a Super C. One of the carb kits for Zenith carb did match to a Super C along with other models.

Sorry I haven't gotten back sooner. Shop has been picking up. My tractor moonlighting has just about turned into a second job. I just got done resurfacing a driveway with gravel. 135 yards, 105 yards of it was not gate spreadable (power lines). So the one ton dump truck came in real handy.

I'm digging thru my catalogs.. try this info:

Restoration supply co.

8008099156.. order only
5086346915.. questions

in their catalog they list the a, b, c, super a andc, used the same oem zenith carb.. their part number is irc210 249 rebuilt/179 exchange

They also list that a new zenith replacement is available.. thier part number 17a10, and it fits the above mentioned, plus 100, 130, 140, 200, 230, 240, 330, 340, 404. 199$ each.

They sell kits for those carbs as well..

You might call them and match up your carb to one of those I listed.. and then order a carb kit from them.. their kits look like they range from 22 bucks for a basic (throttle shaft spring, pshaft packing, inlet needle, seat, float valve pin, and gasket set. ) to 32 bucks for a complet kit.. ( contains parts of basic plus: choke shaft, metering screw/spring, main jet, idle jet, and misc small pats where applicable ). Also.. a plain gasket only kit is 5 bucks.. and floats are between 22 and 27 bucks.

www.tractorpart.com

I'm not affiliated with them in any way.. it's just that thier parts catalog has just about every part I've ever 'not' seen in most regular antique tractor catalogs..

if they can't fix you up, let me know.. I should have some super c manual around here.. might have a carb number on it. I will look for it while awaiting your reply..
