I recently bought an 8N. I started it up tonite and noticed sparking from a bolt that holds the starter. I tightened the bolt and that seemed to do the trick. But I also notice a small glow (can see easily when it's dark) when I crank where the battery cable is grounded to the block. Is that normal??

That is normal for a bad connection /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif…

Remove the cable and clean (wire brush, grinder), the cable end the bolt and the spot the cable contacts the block. Reassemble and spray paint or clear to control rust, corrosion /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Then do the same with the starter bolts… you should greatly improve the performance of things… /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif KennyV.
