tack and hour meter stopped working
I have a john deere 955 and the tach and hour meter don't work. I just bought the tractor so I'm not sure when it broke. Any suggestions on what to check or replace?

Re: tack and hour meter stopped working
The first thing I would check is for a broken tach cable.

Re: tack and hour meter stopped working
My old IH444 had a mechanical tach and the ratio converter, right angle drive failed. Check that if you have it and check the internal flexible cable. If it is the internal you may be able to get a universal speedometer cable at the auto parts house that would replace it.

I am with the other guys. Check the cable. Mine broke on my JD 950 a couple years ago.

Re: tack and hour meter stopped working
Bjohn, When I got my TC40D new from the dealer my tach was not working too. It ended up being where the tach connected to the alternator was unplugged. I would check there to make sure it hasn't come loose.
