Not a guru, but I'll take a stab. Power beyond means you send hydraulics from a port on your valve to another valve. Your valve may not have a power beyond port on it. If it does have a power beyond port, you may have to modify to let it provide power beyond. If you have any literature, it should say. Some manufacturers put info online. Prince is one.

Power beyond functionality is only required if your valve is NOT the last valve in the series hydraulic circuit. Note that the 3pt is normally the last valve in the circuit.

Basically what PB functionality does is to redirect high pressure flow from the outlet port to the PB port. This is normally accomplished with a sleeve in the valve. The outlet port then becomes the return to tank port where neutral pressure exhaust fluid from the work ports (cylinders) can make it back to the tank. This is done because dumping the neutral pressure exhaust fluid back into the high pressure flow stream may not be advisable in all situations.

In addition, the valve's relief (if so equipped) will also dump fluid into the return to tank port.
