I've got a batwing mower with used aircraft tires on the back.. the thick hard sidewall type. They are pretty worn.. and I believe i will be replacing them within the next year or two.

Where can these be found.. can a regular tire dealer get them? I've never had to deal with this before.. so don't even know where to look.

I don't know if a regular tire dealer can get them. Maybe one that deals in ag tires. There is a place in Houston called Gensco Aircraft Tires. Their number is 1-800-663-5287. They sell the tire mounted on the rim for about 70 dollars. I have yet to see a set wear out. We have a guy that has had them on the front of his IH 684 for about 20 years and they are still working great. In fact the left one has about an inch sqaure nick about a 3/8" deep on the sidewall and it has held air good like that for about 10 years.

I did a quick search and found a couple of spots. Not sure if they will help.
Ive never worked with aircraft tires. are the a standard rim size? like 13, 14 15 etc?
I assume they are very well built, as one of these sites states hat they recycle them to farm use.
Good luck

Soundguy - If you talk to Gensco in Houston , ask for the 1-800 number for their store in Alabama. Can't remember city?? If you buy, Alabama shipping to you would be cheaper.

Aircraft tires will absolutely whip your old tired butt to mount. Might want to have someone lined up to handle that little detail for ya.

ETA:

I have no idea if you are old OR tired, but you will be after you mount AC tires. :)
