I found the adjustment on the right side at the base of the steering post just below the fuel tank. Now I am wondering where it gets its lube. I see no zerk fitting. Ia amtold that most part for a 175 will fit the L1500/ Anyone know what lubes the steering gears on a L1500 or a 175? Thanks

Should be 90w gear oil. Let me look.

Well a picture I have doesn't show much. Basically you fill it like a diff, remove a plug, add oil until it runs out, replace plug. On my 2500 it's .18qts, not much. Manual does show to use UDT or SAE 80, 90w oil. I would stick with 90w, heavier incase the seal is leaking a bit.

And if the seal really leaks.. try a 0 or 00 pourable grease. Jd cornhead or other similar 'flowable' greases will work good for those applications.. as they slump back down into the cavity after the gear moves..
