teh main boom bleeds down very quickly(i'm talking like the count of 30)the machine set up ten years plus or minus and i have been bring her back slowly but surely. any ideas or thoughts as to why??I am soon to start repacking every sylinder on the machine to keep from having a problem on a jobsite.any advise would be appreciated.

Check for bypassing at the spool valves.

If the rig has been sitting for all those years you've got a lot of seals which may have hardened or taken a set. In the short term you could try cycling each circuit to see if a little life can be restored. If not, you are looking at repacking. The other thing that could have happened is the cylinder barrel rusting or pitting in the absense of an oil film over those years.

Another thought to sort out if its the piston packing or the control valve is to swap the hoses at the control valve. If it still leaks down the fault is most probably in the cylinder. Worst case can mean replacing the entire cylinder.
