What kinda little snake is this? I know what my wife says it is.....I don't think so... There's a picture of my Kubota key... You may see the punture holes from the cat(s). I guess they, hope, they dug it up from the leaves or a log. Kinda early for snakes!

I'm fairly certain that it's a Red Rat snake, also known as a Corn Snake. Here's a link to some pictures, etc. on Wikipedia. There are several variations in color - the third picture down the page is the closest to your snake. These are non-venomous, small rodent eaters, and are harmless, beneficial snakes to have around your property.

A fella on facebook says it's a cow snake, very common around here and looks a lot like a copperhead, but a thiner tail and different head. They get BIG too 4-6' and are harmless, unless they make you wet your pants.....
