This thread is meant to help those who may have questions on how to:

- Attach files / photos to their posts / replies
- Use Photobucket to place photos in the body of text of your post
- Add or edit an avatar to your profile
- How to make / do a screen capture (or also called a Screen Shot) of what is on your screen

How to use

Photobucket
(Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket)

to host photos for posting on this forum

If you do not already have an account, click on JOIN NOW:

joinnow.jpg

and follow the registration steps.

OK, now you are ready to start uploading photos.

The main page will look something like this:

acctmainpage.jpg

STEP 1:

Uploading photos to Photobucket.

To upload a photo click on the blue UPLOAD IMAGES & VIDEOS button

upload.jpg

Then search for your photo on your computer and either DOUBLE - CLICK the desired photo or single click it and choose OPEN in the folder window.
(Supported image file types are jpg, jpeg, gif, png, bmp [bmp will convert to jpg on upload])

choosetbn.jpg

It will then automatically load your photo onto the page at Photobucket.

It will show your progress similar to this:

statustbn.jpg

Then when fully loaded your page will look like this:

uploadedtbn.jpg

and you need to click the blue SAVE button near the bottom of that page.

almosttbn.jpg

and now the main page shows your newly added photo

loadedtbn.jpg

Repeat STEP 1 for each photo you want to upload.

STEP 2:

Getting the photo(s) to the page on this forum:

Open a new window and navigate to TractorByNet.

Start a new post or reply to a post:

newposttbn.jpg

Type in the relevant text in your post.

Move the cursor to where you want your photo to be placed.

Go back to you Photobucket window and

Place your cursor over the photo you want to post and you will see a small box appear below that photo showing the available links or urls to that image:

hvertbn.jpg

That will stay open ONLY if you move your cursor directly down to it.

Then click on the link or url you want to use and it will hi-lite that url..

ONLY a url between the
tags will work
This is always the bottom choice called IMG Code

hilite.jpg

Once clicked on, you need to RIGHT-CLICK on that hi-lited link and choose COPY:
(or press ctrl + C to copy)

rtclk.jpg

Then go back to your open post / reply on the forum,
RIGHT-CLICK where you want the photo to show up, and choose PASTE. (or press ctrl + V to paste)

Now your post / reply should look similar to this:

newtopwurl.jpg

repeat adding the relevant urls for the photos you want.

Finish all your normal text

and click preview ....to make sure everything looks right (if not..fix it) then click SUBMIT.

and walla!

you have photos in your post.

NOTE TO ALL:

Photobucket is FREE

Photobucket may have different colors to the pages backgrounds
(I have seen a lot of black pages lately. Not white like mine.)

Make sure your photos are clear and large enough to show detail,
but not too large as too make people's screen too wide and
make it necessary to scroll to the side.

The steps above are not the only way to do this
but it is the way I do it and it works.

I hope this helps some

Screen Captures / Screen Shots

How to make a Screen Shot (screen capture)

A screen shot can be done 2 ways.

1st:
Press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard.
This takes a snapshot of what is on your screen at that moment. A snapshot of the complete screen.

Then open an image editor program such as Microsoft Paint (which is on all Windows machines),
or IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide which is a FREE image editing program.

Once your image editor is open, find and choose the "Paste" option.
It will transfer your snapshot to the program and allow you to do whatever you desire
(within the capabilities of the program)

Here is a screenshot of my screen (with 2 windows open) with print screen:

printscreen.jpg

2nd:
Press "Alt" AND "Print Screen" at the same time to take a snapshot of the forward most window on your screen.
(some people may have a couple of windows open and one or 2 may be smaller windows.)
Whichever window is on top, or the most forward window, will be singled out
and captured by pressing "Alt" and "Print Screen" together.

Then again, open an image editing program, find paste and it will paste the snapshot into the program.

Here is an example of that.

My screen has 2 windows open. The large normal one and a small one (irfanview).

I get just the small one as a snapshot with "Alt" AND "Print Screen":

alt_prntscrn.jpg

I hope this helps with screen shots

also called screen captures

I may be half blind but I do not see any paper clip to click on.

None in a NEW POST window

None in the reply window
