Hi Chuck,
Thank you !!!!! However, Brenda is like family, but is my
business partner only. When we worked for the highway dept.
she was hired to mow, plow snow etc. She was assigned to
my crew. Very good equipment operator. We were taught to
never operate tractors on slope over 3-to-1 grade.(18.46)
degrees. However our indicators were made in the sign shop
and consisted of a sheet metal pendulum free swinging on
a sheet metal back plate. Brenda and I developed several
refined versions of tiltmeters, and found our present styles
to be best. Soon other districts wanted same. We made them
in my garage at first for no cost for fellow employees.
A yr. later, state asked us to make more for all districts.
We quit our jobs, put my house up, sold my bass boat and
motorcycle, and Brenda sold a couple of her rodeo horses,
and we started the company. Been in business 5 yrs. Just
getting close to making first pay checks. My wife has helped
pay bills, and I hocked a few more things, and Brenda still
works a part time job. Almost have equipment paid off. Hope
to grow enough to get paid for the 60-70 hr. wks. I work
now. Brenda works almost as many. My wife, daughter, and
sister in law and nephew help sometimes also. We all believe
very strongly in what we are doing. Still in garage, but have added two more out buildings, and have outgrown all
of it now. Hope to build new building someday. Thanks, Rick
