When it is a snowmobile? actually this is a 1923 Fordson Snow-Motors Conversion.
I went to a yard sale today and found this neet book. Classic Farm Tractors by Randy Leffingwell. It is a hard cover and has a really good history and story of tractors in the US

Or when it is a CAR??????
This is a 1939 Minneapolis-Moline Udlx comfortractor. It would work as a tractor and if you wanted to go to town three of you could jump in and in road gear it would do 40MPH. I womder if the tires were rated for that?????

ok I know you want to see 4wd tractors so here is a 1930 Massey-Harris General Purpose 4wd. It was rated at 15 drawbar,22 pulley

OK all you green fans out there. The latest model from deere but it is only a gear model.
A 1918 Dain All-Wheel drive. It is the 79th tractor to have the jd name on it.
One of the features is it don't need chains in the winter

I have a similar book by the same guy, "Illistrated History of the American Farm Tractor". It has similar pictures to what you show. There are/were some really cool things out there!

There is some realy cool stuff in Woodland Calif at the Heidrick Turack and Tractor museum.

great pics /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif beleive it or not but back in the late 40"s we had a tractor with those type wheels(not 4wd) and if i recall ours were much wider it was kind of rough riding /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif and i also managed to get it stuck in the field! pa was not to happy with this puppy, but what the heck being 8 yrs old and on a tractor that mud hole did not look that tough /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Leaddog When i wasd about 15 i bought that book new at Walmart. Ive since destroyed it lugging it and my others around lol. I like the looks of folks when they see the comfortractor and others in that book. I was at a tractor show and there was a Moline collector there with a machine similar to te UDXL It was a tricycle Moline with a cab but had a homebuilt dozer blade tht looked good. It was made for rural mail delvery out west. He decided since the original owners had the blade on it for moving snow and ruts while on their monthly rou hed restore it to. My neighbor gave me an old moline a few months ago i need to go get. The motor needs some work it may get repowered with a 2cylinder Yanmar engine.

I've seen a rig for going in the mud flats in britain with screw drive before.
