Done alot of cutting the past week or so. So thought I'd share some pics.
This is the first real hardcore cutting with the MX and grapple.....and man what a timesaver that is.
Dont have to chain and drag logs anymore. Just latch on with the grapple and skid to the staging area for bucking and splitting.

Pics really dont do the pile of wood justice. ITs probably 50' long, 20' wide, and 5' high. Dont know how many cords, but gonna try to haul alot of it thursday when the ground is frozen good.

All this cutting has made me want to Fab up a drop on 4-way for the splitter.

So that's why I did. Tried it out on a few stringy pieces of a cotton wood I had removed from the pond dam and it works as intended.

3/8" steel and 3/4" wings. Just scraps I had laying around.

Looks good. How's it work? ( I know HOW it works, I'm asking how well does your fabricated unit perform!)

I don't really know. I got skidders, bulldozers, tractors, a log trailer, even hundreds of acres of forest...but I burn coal primarily. :miner: I do burn a little bit of wood now and then, but I use a pot bellied stove, so I cut saplings because of the smaller size needed.

LD1, Have you had a chance to use your new wedge on some harder wood?

That four way wedge is a wicked piece of equipment. LD1 - in your first pics, what kind of wood are you splitting?

Have used it on ash and maple. No issues. Works as expected.

Don't really know if I am saving time when I have to take it off and put it on for a piece here or there. But if I had a pile of stuff prime size for 4-way....you bet.
