I went with my 4 year old daughter today on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. It is actually a fully functional farm that farms cotton, corn, soybeans, and pumpkins. Opening it up for field trips was started by the wives of the brothers that run the farm. This year they had a new additional. Now I need to find a JD 699.

He has probably written off the expense of that machine twice now. Gotta have a good accountant.

I doubt there are many farms that are still using 2 row cotton pickers.

Brent to daughter when he got ready to leave:

"Now get off that cotton pickin' slide. We gotta go!" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Very neat idea for farm country. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I would have converted it into a backhoe or some other useful tool

Since my wife saw the picture she has been asking where we can get an old picker. I have an uncle who farms cotton. I guess I need to call him. Today they said that the cotton picker was a real rust bucket piece of junk before they did the slide modification to it.
A friend of mine has a helicopter and I was telling her that it amazes me how many old abandoned combines you see from the air. I need to get him to take me looking for a cotton picker.
