Retaining Wall of Unopened Sacks of Concrete

I was raised in East Tennessee and many of the bridges in the TVA impoundments utilize this method in regards to rip rap. There was a thread that I posted in yesterday, where a member was adding weight to his disc. I suggested to him to add bags of Sakrete or cement and just run the water hose over them. I also advised the OP that he could use the same method in shoring up the embankment on his farm pond. My Father and Uncle used this method on their farms and I still use this method on my 30 acres today. I just came in the house from spreading some dirt with my Box Blade and came across this thread.

My dad built a wall like this a few years back and he used 3/8 re bar in it. After he built it he sprayed water on it with a water hose.

May be a bit late in posting in this thread but I have worked with concrete in all forms (pun intended here) and it's my understanding that to get full strength from redi-mix the contents should be fully wet and just sprinking or letting it harden from rainfall, etc don't permit the mix to become very strong.

And doing it that way would be frightfully expensive, around here a half cubic foot bag of the cheapest redi-mix costs $2.50.

This looks like a possible solution for my retaining wall needs.

I need to "build around" some trees on the right of the driveway.
