Just found a fairly cool trick for difficult vertical hoses. I replaced the big one from my filter to my tram today. To access it I had to use my crows foot on my long 1/2" ratchet. Well, it was basically breaking my wrist trying to hold all that weight out. I figured out that I can put a wrench on the lower section (the place you would put a wrench to keep the hose from spinning) then place another larger wrench to fill the gap, then lay your crows foot on top.

I have pix but maybe this is way stupid and remedial....

First is a wide shot of the wrench on the lower part of the hose.

Next is the second wrench

Final is the crows foot sitting on the whole rig...


Go by the photo number not by how they are ordered on the screen (grumble).
