Well, this is bunk.

I cannot get my Male quick connect off my PTO Hose. Little did I know that there are literally hundreds of these buggers. So, I went to my high end hose shop and they gave me a connector that cross referenced mine.

Well, it did not work. I cut the end off my old hose and took my cut piece back to show them what I had and they said wow, that is weird. They had no match for it. They said that it was uncommon and that I should just replace my PTO connectors with something common...

For those who have the charts, my old piece says FRASTER NV34ZNPTM 01

I am wondering if I change my mower (my only PTO device) now or if my high end hose shop is low brow...

Carl,

It's probably better to get that fitting from PT. I ran into the same problem, with my QD's. The hose-man told he didn't have anything that would fit. In the show room, they had bins of the most common parts and fittings. I took my QD and plugged in different fittings, and found one that would work. If you can find a good source, I would change out what you have for the most common QD availably. Surplus hydraulics has some good prices. If you can, get the next size larger than your hose, and adapt it with reducers. If you spend a little more, you can get the flat face couplers that can connect and disconnect under pressure. The experience level varies in different shops, just have to find one that will impress you with his knowledge. Then ask for him when ever you visit. There are adapters for QD's, but you have to ask.
If you do a search on the Internet for hydraulic disconnect, you can find a lot of info. Northern Tool has a good stock of fittings.

I needed to purchase some of those wen I was building my posthole auger.
It took me a while to find a cross reference because there are so many. The one on my PT has the same number and is made in Italy. After searching the Web I found that the Parker 4000 series should interchange with it, but the cost of the Parker parts in my area was more than what PT wanted so I ordered from PT and had them in 2-3-days.

I was just looking at the Faster Web site, the NV series Quick Coupler has interchangeability according to ISO 7241-1 requirements . The ISO number will help wen looking for a local supplier to cross reference the fitting.

If you are replacing quick disconnect, how about getting some of the flat-faced minimal-spill kind? They are expensive, but if you have to pay to replace your QD anyways, reportedly they allow more flow and are easier to clean.

You can see them on page 279 of the Macmaster-carr catalog.

7241-1 series??? There are series letters after the -1. That ISO # some companies use is almost useless. Within ISO 7241-1 there is ISO-A, ISO-B, and ISO-A ag style. And maybe some more.

Carl, I'm thinking this is a standard q.d. Shops always call things weird or oddball when they don't stock it. Look at the male end, the little piece that sticks straight out the end, is it rounded like a ball bearing? If you can post a nice, clear, close up pic, I can probably identify it. I have a suspicion this is a Pioneer Ag style qd.

So.....

My thoughts are this. I really don't want to have to order a part every time I want to fix / add to my PTO system. I think switching my connectors over to something local and more common is the best idea for me.

I have considered going flat face, but I am not sold on them. Quite expensive, and I am not sure of the benefit. And, am I getting an item that I am not going to be able to get additional connectors for (comments, anyone?)

I came home with new connectors. Parker series 6600 (6601 and 6602). Any thoughts? I am not going to install them until I have my PTO issue resolved.

I will try and get a good pix of the end in question. It is not ball but has a pointy activator.

BTW, The shop had handed me the 6601 as the replacement to the FASTER...

The Parker can be used as a replacement but it will not couple to the Faster. They are made to different internal dimentions, different ISO Interchange Reference Numbersas well.
