Modify a bucket to carry more firewood

Has anyone made a rack, wood extension, or whatever that would allow a bucket to carry more firewood. With my woodstove I find I am moving a lot of firewood. I could make it out of wood or metal. I also have a hydro tank that I could use. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

There was a good suggestion in a thread august 2007 but I can't find it any more. Maybe its in the attachments or customization forums.

Anyhow the guy used 1/2 inch plywood, 2x4, furring straps and straps to make a removable extension. I can post the picture if you, or others, can't find the thread.

I've been thinking of making one of those. Only I'd make the bottom of 3/4" and the sides and top of 1/2" plywood. The 2/4's would be a couple inches longer than the plywood bucket so that when the thing is stored upside down, it'd be off the ground.Instead of bolts, I'd like to try using 12ft straps.
It's not obvious in the picture, but I think that the bottom sheet goes full length into the bucket, while the sides and top are only to the lip of the bucket.
I figure that it'd be easy to install. Just put the bucket over it like a hat and tie the straps. Another project of mine involves staining a deck and I think that leftover deck stain would help preserve it.
If you use bolts, don't forget the trick of using a step drill bit for the bucket holes.

Am I the only one that carries the whole log to the pile and hold it with my backhoe while I cut it, then pick it up and plunk it on the stack? I don't get why you'd cut it, then carry it to the stack only to re-stack it again.
As usual, I'm probably missing something..

You probably have a short easily travelled distance between your logging site and the wood pile. Try winding your way with your tractor between the trees while towing a log.
Or you can cut and split on site.

You hit the nail on the head. Mine are fairly close and easy to get to.. Didn't think about a trip thru the forest..

I recently built a carry-all for a bx FEL from a pallet and a couple 4x6's. Mayby somthing like this would work for you.

I built something similar to the Carry all device . except mine was a piece of plywood the wide of approx the depth of the bucket it would set against the bucket lip almost flush. the sides were also similar to the carry all idea except the side come back into the bucket side more. and then have a bolt that goes through the side of the bucket to hold it on.
this works so well, that I replaced the bolt with a bolt and a huge wing nut.

We have tons of 10" and under trees. We drop 'em and drag 'em to a central location and lay them next to each other. Then I use my forks to lift 5 or 6 of them up at a time from the middle and cut off 16" pieces pretty fast this way.
