PT-425
Hey all,

Friend of mine just bought a PT 2425 and I have a PT 425. I have had a finish mower and let him try it out. Seems it was rubbing his tires in front as he floated it. Do any of you know if they've made, modified or adapted a quick attach plate to help allow a PT2425 use the mower attachment or if there are any additional modifications that enable the PT2425 to mow? Any and all help would be appreciated.

From looking at the pictures of the attachment mounted on the 425, that if it were hitting the tires on the 2425, then the tubing to the deck could be set back a little bit more on the deck by drilling new holes, which would push the deck forward.

My deck for my 425 already has pre-drilled holes I guess for that reason. I know because the holes keep filling up with grass.

When I installed a Caroni caster wheel kit on my brush mower I had to move the attachment mounting assembly back so the casters would not rub the front tires...so it's a easy modification if you need more clearance between your mower deck and your front tires.

The Caster kit looks great. How did they improve the mower?

I have the brush mower and it did the exact same thing.....mostly when making a tight turn.....lost some bars off the tires before I noticed. The solution was to move the connecting plates back toward the mower a little. Since this will off balance the mower now it is advisable to add an additonal piece of plate steel under the bolting points on the mower to add alittle more support when picking up the mower.

fwiw powertrac did tell me that the 2425 is not a mowing machine before I purchased. Apparently the cooling system is not set up to cool the hydraulics under mowing loads. For me this isn't a problem as I only need to keep the weeds down along the drive. Not sure how it would act if I was mowing 5 acres.

None of the diesel PT's are properly set up to handle mowing loads. On the rest of them, the motor overheats too easily. Too funny.

does anyone know if you can add a bigger cooling fan system for the PT2425 to mow with or any other PT's that may be inferior?

Sure you can add more fans/radiator or a larger fan/radiator, if the electrical system can handle the load.

That is, if you have the space .

My 425 would front wheels would bind against the mower deck when articulating across (deep) depressions. I noticed the other holes too and moved the mounting point back--pushing the mower out about 4-6 inches. Problem solved? Yes, for a while.

This new position changed the leveraging across the deck and I later (1 yr) noticed 1/2 stress cracks developing at the front "corners" where the deck angles at 45 deg toward the front edge. Also noticed the deck had a slight bow. I corrected the problem by straightening the deck, welding the cracks, and adding 2 pieces of 3" angle iron to the deck, running from the mounting locations to the front edge. No problems since making the corrective mod this past spring.
