As an e-2 I was making around 400.00 in the late 80's. I remember my dad saying in the late 40's-early50's for an e-6 he made 80.00 something per month, that would have been close to the 3200per month today. Thanks for the post J J

For those of you that have no idea what the pay is for our military members.

As an E-2, I was making about $98.00 a month. 2011 pay for an E-2 is $1644.90.

Military Pay Charts

That's about what, $33K per year? Throw in free room and board on top of that. Not a bad wage for a single guy. Tough to make a go of it with a wife and kids, though.

Moss I think your math is off. $1644 per month is just a bit over 19K per year.

JJ you must be younger than me. E2 pay for me was $92 per month.

Yep, for the pay numbers to mean anything, whether for military or others, you have to know when. I started out as a police officer in March, 1964, when the salary was $370 a month. We got paid on the 9th and 24th of each month. It was several years later when police officers and firefighters began being paid on Friday, every 2 weeks like the rest of the city employees.

Yep, and don't forget the all-expenses-paid 6-12 month "vacation" to Iraq or Afghanistan that comes every 18-36 months...

Most "lifers" that I know have been at least 3 times so far, some as many as 5....

Chief, thats why many folks volunteered to fly, loved the flight pay skins, doubled your pay with only four hours of flight time required each month.
