A big concern I had before getting my PT425 was what would I do if there was a significant problem - engine blows, etc.

Well today I was trying to get some oil filters for the Robin engine (EH72) but nobody had them here in Charlottesville nor could they cross-reference them. Even TSC was of no help. I figured I'd have to mail order them but then gave a call to the local shop (P&L) that I use for my JD garden tractor. Not only did they know what I was talking about but they had 3 filters in stock. So I went down there and talked to Pete who I've dealt with for about 5 years. Not only does he know about PTs but "loves them" and does maintenance on the PTs for a local commercial outfit that uses them, Then to really make my jaw drop he takes me in the back and there is a PT425 with a blown engine he was working on (some poor guy had run it dry of oil). Then when I think it doesn't get any better - he's the Robin engine dealer for the area! I told him that he didn't show up as a dealer on the robinsubaru.com. He checked and thanked me for letting him know so he could contact Subaru and get them to fix their listing.

My 422 Robin oil filter cross references to a Hastings LF410 and a Purolator L14476 or their "premium" filter P14476. Also TBN member Fourteen swears by the Amsoil filters but I do not have the filter# for you.....not knocking what Robin is trying to sell you but the above filters are available retail at closer locations to my home than any small engine shop that would carry the "Robin" filter. You're fortunate to have an experienced mechanic so close by that knows what a PT is...they are still a rare beast in these parts(although a local hospital system is considering the purchase of one of the diesel commercial PT units!).

Excellent. I am relieved. Now I don't have to drive to Charlottesville and fix your PT422.

Just bring it to Powhatan and I will show you how. Get a truck and trailer, not a station wagon.
