We have the parts cut for the 48". and Allen was getting ready to build it up and get weights etc. (Previous 60' sold and gone! I'll let you know how that turns out!) When he came in asd asked about removing one tine from the center. that would put the spacing at about 11" between the bottom tines, but would that leave too much of an empty space for you guys? It would removed around 35.-40 pounds of weight.

Let me know.
PS I started this thread so we could keep the designing q & A away from the one already built. it keeps me less confused!
Thanks Boys:D Melissa

I wouldn't want more than about 9 inches between tines. That is what I have on my Millonzi LD48. 48 inches wide with six tines. On my original LD48 280lb version the tines are all 3/8 inch mild steel. On the slightly heavier recent models the two outside tines are 1/2 inch steel and there is a bit more reinforcement of tips with gussets etc adding up to about 25 extra pounds.

In looking at the photos I cannot see where the extra weight (100+lbs) is on the Markham. Looks very much like the Millonzi. The Millonzi has curved tapered lower tines and slightly less beefy upper jaw. Hard to imagine there is a 100+lb difference though. It does look like the Millonzi has 3 inch square tubing. I recall somewhere that the Markham has 4 inch. Not sure that is necessary. The only things that have bent at all on mine are the tips of the top jaw when lifting ridiculous boulders.

Here are some photos to help judge size and distances on the Millonzi LD48.

I'm in the market for a toothbar also, but would definitely shy away from anything with 11" tooth spacing. I'm more inclined to look for those with teeth spaced from six to nine inches
