Bought another Farmall Cub last week and the guy was running a 12 volt battery but the tractor still had the six volt system. I know this will not run the lights but will it cause any other damage? Thanks for your help...

if he did not change the coil or add a ressitor, it will eventually ruin the coil and the points.. that is.. unless this is a magneteo ignition.

what year cub? in 66 they went to a 12v system..

since it has a magneto system.. then you just need to get the charge system setup. either go back to 6v and use the stock genny on a 6c bat, and stock style lmaps.. or use the 12v battery, and get the genny rebuilt as 12v.. shouldn't be hard since a 12v version of that genny became available in 66.. should be easy to rebuild as 12.. then swap in new lamps. Starter won't care...but spins faster on 12v.. just don't grind on it forever or it will throw solder..
