So it's been quite some time since I've bought a riding mower, and it's time to bite the bullet and get a new one. Which John Deere riding mower should I get? Which offers the best bang for the buck? I have a fairly large lawn, so I'll need something with a decent cutting width.

I have the Z445 54" with the 26hp Kawasaki engine. Love it. It is a bit of a rough ride, tho, but MUCH better than the Scotts 20hp 46" lawn tractor.

Since this is the tractor forum, I would suggest that you start with the JD2305, and look at the 3000 series perhaps as well.

Since you need it for cutting grass, don't get a 'lawn tractor', get a 'lawn mower'. I recommend a used 72" front mower of some sort, diesel 3 cyl motor. Used anywhere from 1500 - 3500 depending on condition. Easy to operate, easy to maintain, easy on the fuel wallet, almost zero turn. I have an F935 for example. Look on eBay for what it looks like.
