JD316 yard tractor
My deere has developed quit a "growl" when starting. I believe the starter is beginning to fail. It always starts within a second or two.
I have been told that the motor needs to be removed to reach the starter.
I am looking for a blowup and/or instructions as to removing engine and replacing the starter.
The tractor has approx. 1450 hr.

I agree with K7LN. Remove the four bolts holding the engine down, and you should be able to lift/tilt it enough. There are two bolts that hold the starter in place. It is a pretty straight forward job. Not hard at all.

Just make sure you disconnect the battery terminals first.:)
