Where is the fill hole for hydraulic oil? Does it use Hy-Trans?

Should be an approx. 1" plug in the trans. shift cover. It will be between the gear shift, and seat. A 1/2" drive should fit the square hole in the plug.

Check plug will be on the left side, sitting in the seat, just behind the axle housing, about center level of the axle.

And yes, Hy-Tran in there. System holds 7 gal.

Thanksfor the help buddy...I've only had it 1 day and haven't gotten an owners manual yet. And I'm a new member as of today.

Just finishing up painting the 404...I went overboard. Stripped the paint, primed and ready for finish coat. I'll send pics...calander material. I won't want to get it dirty...but, I bought it to work it. Mechanically sound.
