After many months of research and comparisons, I have decided that my 1.1 acres of hills, slopes and rough terrain (property is a three tiered lot on a ridge) needs something more than the X300 series. I burned out two trannys on my current 1999 Toro 16HXL 38" (big box equivalent) mowing, hauling mulch, rocks and fire wood. My research showed everything from the X300 being "fine" to needing an X500 in order to have a solid tranny with locking diff.

My local JD dealer has a 2006 x500 54" deck, 14 bu 3 bag power flo collection system and 250 hours. He wants $4,599 for it.

Keep in mind JD has $500 off all X Series until the end of Feb so my guess is that there will be more trades coming in and less folks looking at used in Jan/Feb.

Do you think this is a good deal? All advice is greatly appreciated as I know this is a very informed and knowledgeable group.

A local JD dealer last time i checked you could buy a new x500 for $5000. I am not sure what the collection system goes for but if it was up to me i would keep shopping or buy new.

psunut,
welcome to the forum. If you wind up buying new I suggest you consider the MC 519 cart setup holds more and is easy to dump. I have had mine for a while now and it has worked out pretty well.
