I am looking at getting a used vermeer cx224 excavator but I don't know anyone that runs Vermeer equipment. Does anyone have any comments about Vermeer excavators good or bad. Also who makes them for Vermeer, I have heard that kubota makes them but can't seem to find that written anywhere. Any help would be appreciated.

The Vermeer mini excavators are made in Italy by Libra
They also are imported to north america under the name Scat Trak
The numbers are all the same " Libra 254s, Scat Trak 254s, & Vermeer CX254"
They are all the same...

The last company I worked for had a couple Vermeer minis, they weren't the greatest as minis go but they will dig. I don't remember which ones they had anymore. They did have problems with the electric controls on one of them but they got these used from someone who likely abused them. They had a Vermeer mini skid steer and their directional bore rigs are popular with utility companies, we also run their vibratory plows, which I am not thrilled with compared to some other brands they are under powered and slow with too many digital and electronic controls for a machine that vibrates a lot
