I have priced both of these available in my area, both at $ 2200
the SQ172 has front Chains, the RCF2072 does not. Both have two plate slip clutches and all the specs are very similar, 10 gauge, etc.
The tail wheel support even looks the same.

The RCF has the Twin strut brace for the lower arms with a loose pin (CLEVIS!), which I have never used. It is harder to deal with than the fixed pin single tower?
Looks stronger to me.

Big question is preferences of one over the other at the same price?

Don't know about the Landpride but my SQ172 has been working for eight years without a problem.Mine has the shear pins and only have broken them twice.Doesn't look pretty but still works fine.I maintain my 100 ac. with it.

For what its worth, I see both models with and with out front chains.. Wonder if you could just ask for them?

They are so close, I'd buy from whatever dealer gave the most 'extras', warranty, smiles, etc..

+1 on the Bush Hog. Mine is 5 years old, has a rubber front guard, and uses Shear pins. It has been very reliable.

Can't speak about Land Pride RCF2072. I have owned my SQ172 for about five years now and it has been rock solid :D  ! I pull it behind my L3400 Bota DT (gear). Don't use it for commercial work, just the mini mini hobby place on almost 6 acres. Maybe it just me but I've looked at pics of LP and they rate their gearbox at 65 hp I believe also, but can tell you my BH brand gearbox looks way bigger. I don't have chains on mine just those heavy plastic looking guards. If I had to do it over again I'd get the SQ172. Been real happy with it. Just my :2cents:.

The gear box's are both rated 65. The one on the LP is more rounded, holds 4 pints of gear oil. SQ is the same.

I'd shop a little more. I purchased a new sq172 last summer for $1850 w/ slip clutch and front chains. 2200 was the asking price at most places, but everything is negotiable.
