1985 JD450 D Buldozer will not shift into another gear while running.

If you get this dozer in between gears while trying to shift the clutch will not release and allow the gear change. Can the clutch be adjusted or is some other maintenance required?

Clutch pedal free travel can be adjusted but it sounds as if clutch plate is stuck.

Does this require eng removal to correct?

Try blocking clutch pedal down,start engine and get engine up to operating temperature to see if clutch plate will free up. Another possibility is a broken pressure plate bolt bolt which would require engine R&R.
