I have an emission control system light on my 5525 that is blinking (three times). After operating the tractor for one or more hours, it seems to lose some power, runs at a higher idle and exhaust smokes more. The tractor has about 85 hours on it. The manual is not much help at all. Anybody have this happen to them? Any ideas on the problem and what I need to do? Thanks.

Three blinks is the throttle position potentiometer. Check the wires going to pto and also check the connector where the engine harness connects to the main harness.

Not pto. The potentiometer (pot).

Thanks for the note. The dealer seems to think it might be related to a detached vacuum line or possibly the fuel pump setting. He indicated that sometimes the fuel pump is not set correctly from the factory. Potential clogging of the air filter could be a problem....although with the number of hours and good operating conditions, this is probably not the case.
