Tractor
Ford 8N / Kubota B 6200. Kubota B 7100. Modified wards lawn tractor. Souped up.
Hi Guys, Rick here with R&B. Is anyone going to the International
lawn and garden show in July at Louisville Ky? We have a booth and will be there. We will be unveiling a couple of
new products there. One is a new style indicator that uses a
totally new concept never before used. Should be ready before show.
Another is a radio frequency bucket level. It uses a radio
signal from a small box that sends a signal to the operator,
that lights a small light when bucket is level. NO WIRES.
I may be ready by then also. Now, QUESTION!!!!!
do any of you see a use for this device? This early model
will only work relative to ground surface, not tractor position.
In other words, the tractor should be on ground no more
than 5 degrees off level in any direction. Not a perfect
solution, but maybe useful to some. A ground relative model is in the works.
Much harder to do and keep price down. Rick

Hi Jonleonard,
I was not aware it was a closed show. I do not know much
about it yet. It's our first time there. Don;t know quite
what to expect. I will try to find out more & let you know.
Thanks for the info. Rick

Good news! You can indeed attend the show in Louisville.
If you register at the door, it is $25.00 But if you pre-register
on-line, there is no fee. You can pick-up your pass at the
registration desk and say you pre-registered.
The show official I called said to put down landscape
professional for your title. They are not trying to keep the
public out, they are trying to attract more industry guys.
Hope this helps, and hope to see you there. We are in booth
#4512. Rick

Rick,

Spend a few dollars more for a digital readout...versus LED method... with a self calibrating feature... like press one button, hold for 5 seconds, self calibrates and ready!

Use a common lithium camera type battery that's available anywhere...

Your biggest challenge is Damage to the unit mounted up front on the loader getting whacked...

I tried a couple cheapo stick on mirrors on the back of the bucket... HA HA, Destroyed!

If you need a Beta Tester... /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hi John,
Love the idea of digital.Problem is, I'm not an electronics
expert by far. Research and developement as you know is
big bucks. I already have a fortune in the new tech. model I
plan to introduce at the show. The show alone, plus meals,
travel, motels, etc. really cut into our budget. These shows
average $18.00 and up PER SQUARE FOOT OF BOOTH SPACE.
I have a ten foot booth, and another table in the New
Products Area. You then have additional table, electricity,
etc. I have the knowledge of what is requested by most
users, and I know where the markets are. I hired a young
man that just finished electronics training. Very good at it.
Sent him to electronics store with cash to get everything he
needed to work on our tilt switch module. Last I heard, he
was in Texas. Stupid move on my part. Seemed like a great
guy. I was going to pay for the parts, and give him a percent
of all sales for a year. All he would have in it was his time.
Someone else will come along and I'll try him. Rick

Rick, it seems to me that a ball that was NOT affected by a magnetic mount would greatly expand AND simplyfy mounting options. What about lead ? A heavy ball would seem to react fast.
I'm still thinking about that bucket level indicator. I contacted several manufactures of electronic leveling devices for mining etc but I was too small potatoes and they were way too expensive I sensed. Kind of looking for a lump of coal in the jewerly store.

Rch,
I now have the indicator balls in glass, and stainless steel.
We tried lead awhile back. It eventually got flat spots under
heavy vibration. Stainless is non-magnetic, and works great.
Mounting is not as much a problem, as a pendulum style
mount that levels itself in relation to the ground. If the
tractor is on say a 10 degree slope, the mount must see
this, and still level the bucket to the tractor, not the ground.
I have ideas, but no time and budget right now. If I live
long enough, maybe I'll get to build everything I want to.
Nah, It will never happen. I would have to live another 100
yrs. or so. Rick
