/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I am looking at new tractors- have only a JD dealer and a Kubota dealer in my town, so my choice has to be one or the other as local servicing is important to me. Both have excellent reputations- so no advantage either way there. Use will be: small acreage to mow (with pull behind rotary cutter- about twice a year- mostly flat, but some slopes around pond embankment), and moving topsoil, bark mulch, and gravel for landcaping. I have been considering the following: JD 2210 or 4010 or 4110 or the Kubota B7510 or B7800. Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

I've a 4010 and drove 2210 and B7510 and BX1830 before buying.
Have moved about 25 tons of gravel and tossed mulch with my 410 loader. The 4010/410 have about 250# more capacity than a 2210 front and back. The 4110 hydraulics are about 20% faster, and it has a separate power steering pump; it was about $2,000 at the time. Didn't like the controls on the B7510 and thought the BX1830 wasn't enough of a step up from my 12 hp walk-behind Gravely. The B7510 price was dead on with a 4010, but with 4110 hp.
I've since used the 4010 with a 50 yr old soil ripper from a JD M that a friend gave me and helped convert to a 3 pt. Swapped out the chisel plows on the soil ripper for 2 16" disc hillers mounted at 45 degree opposed angles to make rows in my garden. The 4010 pulled the soil ripper to max chisel plow depth and created my garden rows with no strain whatever.
I recently did all the trails I'd been doing with my Gravely plus more added and scenic off-takes to them that I didn't do with the Gravely. Did them all in about 2 hours' time. Before, it would take about 4 hours with the Gravely. This is with the LX4 cutter, which is no strain on the 4010 at all. It has the power, but probably not the weight on hills and all to pull a 5' cutter. I know a friend with an 18 hp Kubota who does pull a 5' bush hog with his.
I knew that 18.5 hp was plenty from my experience with the Gravely at 12 hp. It will run a 50" finish mower. The 30" bush hog is absolutely no strain on it whatsoever.
They are probably giving good deals on the 4010 because I hear they're changing out to another model. Mine was about 25% off the web prices and $300 less than a 2210. I've heard that the 410 loader is hard to find, that they're replacing it with the smaller 210 loader.
