Just don't want to drive to the other side of town to pay too much for oil-but unless someone knows what JD HY-GARD J20D is, I'll have to. Any ideas?

I buy the JD Hy-Gard, with confidence it is the right oil to use.

My owner's manual reccomends hy-guard but states that other oils may be used as long as they meet John Deere Standard JDM J20C or J20D. My dealer is 35 miles away but I still make the trip when needed, just for piece of mind. I have not seen that big of a price difference in the JD brand vs the other brands. Buy the bigger containers and it keeps the cost down.

Auto Zone carries a oil that is compatible. It is in a 5 gallon green bucket, I believe it is named Coastal and it says on the back it meets JD requirements for hydro's. I have been using it for a couple of years.

Tractor Supply has oil meeting the JD specs. Amsoil makes a synthetic that meetings the specs, too.....
