I have an older B8200, probably early '80's which needs new brakes. I've reached the end of the adjustment range and it sounds like metal to metal when I use the brakes. How straightforward is brake repair on this tractor? I've done brakes on cars, but never on a tractor.

Don't you have wet brakes? They are more like a clutch on a
motorcycle than brakes you have had on any car.

If you decide to pull apart your rear axle to replace them, let
us know how it goes. I have never had to replace wet brakes
myself before. They are "lifetime" items for the most part.

The B8200 has dry brakes. Unless the shaft seal has started leaking trans/hyd. oil into the brake, then you got a whole 'nother problem. Follow the brake rods to the cover on the trans that is held on by six bolts (I think). Remove that and the brake shoes are behind there.
