Pretty tractor. 1981? I would have guessed 1986. You say you've owned it 8 years? What did the original owner do with it, park it in a glass case for future induction into the Smithsonian? So my 1983 Ford looks pretty good and has a loader too......... let's see..... $16,500 sound fair to anyone?.....

maybe he used it to pull a float every year in the parade?

Seriously thats a lot of cash for a tractor thats that old.

Must not do anything with it other than maybe pull a hay wagon or cut 1/2 acre with a finish mower every other month to only rack up that many hours?

That price may well reflect the amount of money that you put into it, but in reality, it isn't a collector item so rarely will you get your money back on a full restoration of any tractor. There were just too many built, too many still around and the biggest thing is not enough folks interested in buying a restored tractor. Lots of folks will take an old tractor (I mean old as in 40s -50s model) and fully restore it but never get their money back.
As far as tractors go, 1981 is not that old. You will be lucky if you can get $10K out of that tractor especially without an FEL on it.

    i am thinking like Gary.

Same thing is true in collector cars. Sure you can take a mustang and spend $25k getting it back to new contition original or suped up. But the thing may only bring you 15k when it sells.

I hope you do not have anywhere near that amount of money in this tractor. If it turly is original i hope you did not pay anything close to that 8 years ago and if it is refurbished to look new as it it sat outside till you got it, the original hours wont mean much as there is no way to prove to someone those are OE hours and then that person wont care proably.

Like he said most collctors arent collecting yanmars. Many of the guys here with multiples have working tractors that show thier age. And the rest of us would not consider spending $20+k on a tractor that is worth $9k and working it and looseing that money. Even the collctor guys can buy a pretty bad shape one and totally go through it and repaint it to look better than yours and still be in way less in the end.

I say all that to tell you that is one beautiful specimine and survivor. Just you will have a tough time getting close to that price.

Well, I have to agree with all of you that there just aren't that many Yanmar collectors out there. But I disagree on a couple of points....

Because if there just happens that there is such an animal as a Yanmar collector....and if he sees that Marc's advertisement.....then he is not only going to snap it up, he will be thanking the owner for the opportunity. I know that's true because one of those guys stopped by my barn two years back and bought my old motorcycles.
If that happens, then it's good for us Yanmar owners, good for Marc, and good for the collector too. So where's the downside?

But finding a collector is an outside chance. IMHO it's worth doing, but unlikely. So here's a better argument:

That 336D is essentially new. It's a US model with literature and continuing supply of Yanmar OEM parts. And it not only has every single modern feature of the 2015 models out there now, but it is built better, will last longer, and it doesn't have - and isn't required to have - all the new pollution control devices. It's the absolute best one of its type ever made. Few will disagree with that. Drive one and see if you agree. It's proven tuff as nails too. Whoever buys it, it will stay in the family for generations. So here Marc is offering a known machine in new condition for about the same price as another brand of the same HP today. Compare with JD/kubota/New Hollands 33 hp compacts equipped the same way. I know which one I'd rather have.
    luck,
    rScotty
