We had some cool weather come in this week.
There were clouds below us in the valley so I took a couple pictures of it. The scenery is starting to change again ... a lot of the grasses are starting to green up. We even got a couple Sun flowers sprouted in our front area.

Wes came up for his Thanksgiving break so we had a chance to do a lot of stuff together. He helped Loretta and myself even while repairing our ravine switchback. He uses the golf cart to fetch the mail and take out the trash for us too.
The road needs maintenance during the rainy times so every year we get out and do some repairs and road grading. We got a lot of seat time for a couple days this week. The 1/2 mile long road is super smooth once again.

It sure is nice to work on the road when the ground is damp. That's what I should have been doing last weekend, but instead I was putting in 500' of water pipe. I don't know about that super smooth road though, I think that I see a ripple or two. How long before you guys mow that putting green? Or is that part of the Rough?

Brian, it's nice to add a few things to the thread besides Flow-Bee pillow talk, hahaha.
Those clouds hanging low in the valley like that are pretty neat looking. I know I've shown those views before, but what the heck.

That trailer is a 2000lb hydraulic dump trailer we bought when we got Loretta's tractor Shane. I didn't build it. I wish we got the 4000lb one now.

Brian, yeah, working the road now is a lot easier than when it's hard as a rock. I saw that ripple too but decided to let it go. Only you would catch it. Loretta's got me convinced to let the lawn grow. I told her I wasn't gonna mow it unless she gets me that ride on mower first.

Yesterday Loretta and I did a service on her Jinma. Oils and filters and also a valve lash adjustment. We did some service to my Kama too and a repair. Geez, she's put almost a hundred hours on that thing this year! So after the hard work, we were all set to get more seat time today.
I mentioned we needed to gather more firewood and that's what we did today. We picked a spot behind the solar panels near the ravine where we'd felled some trees several years ago. Some of it was sort of cut already, and some were not. Loretta and I worked together as a team to gather a bunch of it and bring it to the log splitter. We sawed some of the smaller stuff up to fit into wood stove but did not get to the bigger stuff. Nor did we do any splitting today ... maybe tomorrow? We did re-fill the nifty firewood cart though. The first load lasted about 2 weeks of constant burning...more than I expected!
Anyway, here's some pictures of us getting that wood up from the ravine. Don't let anybody tell you that you can't get a lot of logs into a bucket grapple like we have.

Loretta and I work together all the time.
We are really getting the hang of rural living and are enjoying it immensely. Today we relaxed but later in the afternoon decided to at least saw up all those logs we brought up the other day.
Looks like we are just short of a full cord of wood, or pretty close. The stack on the right are small logs and the stack on the left are bigger logs that need to be split. There is also a pile of kindling wood near the splitter. This wood has been down at least 3 years now, so I could burn it right away. The firewood cart is full too, we just filled that up yesterday so we have plenty of wood for the time being. Pretty soon I'll start building a firewood shed or covered rack for it all. I'm thinking about making it underneath the deck.
The little Hampton stove is working all the time now.

Do you think that stacking wood under the deck might attract some unwanted visitors who may then become home invaders, such as termites, scorpions, snakes, spiders,etc.? Maybe the firewood shed would be a better option? Just something to think about. Really like your thread.

I have to agree, from everything that I have seen and heard, stacking the wood next to or even near the house is not really a good idea. Rob, you need something else to do anyway don't you? Heck, it won't take you any time to build a nice firewood shed.
