Here is a picture from the top of my dirt pile looking down on the house. I don't know how high the pile is but as you can tell form the picture it is taller than the house.
I have to start moving the pile of dirt and rock this week. |

Here is a couple of pics with the brick completed for the front porch. We plan to fill, sheet, and pour the slab for the porch in the next couple of weeks.
The porch made a great place to hide shingles, broke brick, steel and plastic straps. We should have rough-in inspection next week and can start insulation and sheetrock . |

Looks absolutely beautiful!! WOW!!
Thanks for the pics - FINALLY! HA, HA!!! Anxious to see the porch as we are pouring ours as well and will be the first "concrete" porch I've had. What finish will your porch have? Smooth, brushed, other? Natural color or are you planning on doing any staining of it after pour? Again - Looks great!! Michael

Yeah, it's looking great David. Your house is magnificent.
You got a lot of stuff done over the last month or so. No wonder you got all those pictures to sort through. I find that the hardest thing to do ... determine which ones to share. I have one question though ... where are you going to bury that huge pile of dirt? ![]()

He can bring that pile to Jax and I will spread it for him if it will help!!
With a new house being built just a short distance from my property and the owner not allowing for proper drainage/runoff, I could use that dirt as an berm to keep his overflow from flooding my shop and my utility room which both have doors on that side of the property. I am not concerned about him flooding my house, as it is off-grade and sits much higher than the shop and utility room. The owner is trying, but everytime he has somebody do something over there to fix the problem, we get another rainstorm and a good portion of his yard goes down the ditch in erosion. David from jax

Michael,
Sorry it has taken so long to get back to my thread...things have been crazy the past couple of weeks. As far as the porch goes I am still undecided on the finish. I have thought about stamping and color but not decided yet. Pour should be in a couple of weeks. Rob, I am using some of that dirt around the house. Trying to use as much as I can so I won't have to dig as big a hole to bury it .David from jax, I'll give you a load but that would be expensive dirt with the price of gas now. |
