Excellent thread, Tony. Very inspiring - puts me in the "spring mood" to get out and accomplish something.

I was glad to see the post about the power lines. When I read the posts about the transformer and post hole digger, I immediately thought about what would happen if you dug into a power line!

Thanks Chuck. This is a pretty simple thread without much of anything fancy going on, but it seems people enjoy reading it. And I enjoy sharing.

I'm happy to report that the auger bit has been extracted! I about passed out getting the job done, but its done. All that digging, cutting and chopping will go a long way to make me more carefull next time to not let it get stuck. The photo of the hole don't look like much work, but it was.

Nothing green showing at the garden yet. It's been 8 days. I expect to see something soon.

Most folks don't go into farming to avoid work!

Well then you guys are missing the whole idea of "Hobby" in this farm! There will be no sweat, aching backs, blistered hands, etc.

At least you have a couple of captive field hands!

See! That is why I have a day job so I can go and rest for eight hours a day.

Looking at those roots, just a single one would have been strong enough to hold the auger in the ground. It seems like you had a few more than that. Now you can get that fence going. let the fun begin.

easygo, I hear ya. My day job is at the computer, and these days I'm enjoying the 8 hours sitting in the chair!

scgargoyle, alright...you win. I will likely sweat at some point.

Good news! This evening I saw the slightest hint of a green sprig at the spinach area. Hope its spinach and not a weed. When I get enough green to be worthy of a photo, you can count on it.
