Default Lean to on pole barn

Im going to add a 12-14' wide leanto/shed roof to the side of my pole barn.

Do you just bolt the new rim board right over the sideing, or do you cut out the strip were the ledger will be? (either way its bolted to the posts)

Shim the board so that it doesn't crush the metal siding.

Ya, cutting a 60' strip with the metal blade and circular saw was not part of the project i was looking forward to.
