There are 2 other options , 1 is to use a tank bladder if you have under floor space , as they come in many sizes and have bottom drain taps . The other is to use a pre cast concrete below ground tank . You can park a tractor on the roof of these so are suitable to build a gazebo or carport on top of , saving the costs of a concrete slab for the same purpose .

"what's it worth if you have no supplier and it's all up to you to provide or not have any period?"

i guess i'll throw our 250 gallon tank in the trailer and go to the local FEMA site to get it filled. or, since my mom's on well water, i think we could rig that up.

worst case, i can pump it out of a pond or creek and purify the drinking portion.

the odds that i'll actually "have" to do that are infinitisimal compared to my odds from dying prematurely from heart attack, stroke, cancer. etc. meanwhile, i'm more interested in making sure my kids can get through college and have healthy food to eat! ;-)

I'm so sure I'd depend on those .....people....keeping it nice.

I hear ya .... I'm past that (sorta) -- my kids are having kids and one of them is old enough to have kids. However - we are raising a 7yr old grandson. I have unrealistic hopes that he will help us in the garden I hope to start in 2 yrs. My job in retirement is to try to raise as much food on our own as possible. Brings us full circle to the rainwater, and reason for it. Self sufficiency(ms).
