Default Sandstone retaining wall

I've been working on a sandstone retaining wall the last few days and thought I'd post an update. Here are some pictures of my progress. (FYI - the date on my camera is off by a month or so)

Not quite sure how this will turn out. Just kinda going with the flow. Picking rocks is the toughest thing.

Great job (so far)! You realize you're going to have to replace the wooden stairs with stone to finish the upgrade! Where is the stone coming from?
Thanks for posting!

Yeah you're right the stairs are going to have to go. I'm saving some nice step size stone. Figure I'll get this part done and then figure out the steps. I bought the sandstone at an auction. It comes from old barns and an old bridge. I bought about 30 tons of sandstone and 2 pallets of granite cobblestone from an old road. Didn't plan on purchasing that much but the prices were better than I expected.

Just got my pictures uploaded so I thought I'd give an update on how the wall turned out. Got the steps in and added a little split rail fence I had laying around for good measure.

I really like that! Very nice job.

The resourcefulness of some of you guys here never ceases to amaze me- Rocks bought at auction - would have never thought of that...
